LATERITE is an IRON-RICH clay highly suited to use in ponds and aquariums as a natural substrate for aquariums, or plant pot medium for aquariums or ponds.  Laterite provides trace elements directly to the roots of aquatic plants.

Laterite is a soil and rock mixture, consisting of rich iron and aluminum trace elements. Laterite is commonly found in hot and wet tropical areas.  Almost all Laterite has a rusty-red coloration, because of the high iron oxide content.  Laterite is noted to be ancient clay found on geographically old continents and is considered more useful than younger, fresh clay as it has undergone an aging process over time.  This aging process removes excess phosphate that can cause unwanted algal blooms in your aquarium or pond.
